We’re thrilled to announce that Eco Brixs will be featured on the BBC Radio 4 Appeal on Sunday, 14th December!

Our appeal will be presented by Liz Earle MBE, wellness expert, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for sustainable living. Liz has seen the impact of plastic pollution first-hand in Uganda, and she will be sharing her experiences and the incredible work Eco Brixs is doing to turn plastic waste into opportunity.

Why this appeal matters

Eco Brixs works with local communities in Uganda to create sustainable jobs from plastic recycling. It buys plastic waste from people, which both cleans up the environment and creates job opportunities.

The waste is then transformed into Eco-Products — such as bricks, furniture, plates, flowerpots, and stationery — that the whole community can use.

Five people in green aprons sort green plastic bottles outdoors at Eco Brixs in Uganda. Aprons read "WE BUY YOUR PLASTICS." Background shows more bottles.

With your support, we aim to expand this model to new areas of Uganda, helping hundreds more people access reliable income while tackling plastic pollution.

Every donation counts — and thanks to two generous supporters, all donations made during the appeal will be doubled, up to a total of £30,000, so your impact goes twice as far.

📌 Make a note in your diaries — Sunday 14th December at 07:54 GMT (repeat broadcast at 21:25 GMT)

A story of impact

A woman, Megaret, a single-mother in Masaka, who is using the income from plastic collection to support her daughter through school, in a patterned dress stands confidently by bags of plastic bottles, with a wire fence and greenery in the background. This plastic will be traded at Eco Brixs for income

Families across Uganda are already seeing the benefits of Eco Brixs’ work. Local people are earning a reliable wage collecting plastic in their communities, allowing them to provide for their families, support their children’s education, and even mentor others to do the same.

To date, Eco Brixs has helped recycle over 3,000 tonnes of plastic waste while creating jobs for over 5,500 marginalised people in Uganda.

Tune in to hear Megaret’s story and see the transformative difference your support can make.
