Scaling Our Impact
Eco Brixs was founded in 2018 in our CEO's back garden in Masaka, Uganda, where he initially purchased just 2 tonnes of plastic from the local community. Since then, Eco Brixs has grown from a small baling site into a heavy-duty recycling plant in Masaka, supported by a vast network of recycling hubs across the south of Uganda.
This scale has already allowed us to recycle over 4,000 tonnes of plastic and create accessible green jobs for 5,500 people who collect and sell plastic to Eco Brixs.
Over the next 3 to 5 years, our goal is to expand from our base in Southern Uganda across the entire country, moving into the eastern and northern regions. This expansion will allow Eco Brixs to recycle over 10,000 tonnes of plastic annually while creating 13,700 jobs.
Our growth is structured across three operational phases:
Phase 1 (Current): Southern Uganda Expansion Establishing our robust collection network across the Mbarara, Kabale, Kalangala, and Kasese regions, feeding directly into our main Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Masaka.
Phase 2: Eastern Uganda Replication Replicating our successful model across the Mbale and Tororo regions. This includes building a full 900-tonne processing factory in Jinja featuring 3 separate production lines to eliminate operational downtime, alongside a dedicated MRF for receiving and sorting plastic.
Phase 3: Northern & Central Uganda Launch Replicating our collection model across the Arua, Gulu, Bidibidi, Rhino Camp, and Kitgum regions. This network will feed into a regional MRF in Lira and a major holding and distribution warehouse in Kampala.
